Summit Natural Gas Partners with the American Heart Association for Little Hats, Big Hearts Program

January 26th, 2018

Lebanon, Missouri – Summit Natural Gas of Missouri today joined the American Heart Association of Missouri at Mercy Hospital in Lebanon to kick off this year’s Little Hats, Big Hearts program.

For the second year in a row, Summit is the sole supporting sponsor of the program at Mercy Hospital.

“At Summit, we are always proud to sponsor this event with the American Heart Association,” said Summit’s Manager of Business Development, Phil Marcum, who participated in today’s event. “As a company, we know we are only as strong as the communities we serve and that starts with a commitment to healthy families, which is why we continue to partner with the American Heart Association every year to educate our friends and neighbors about heart health – particularly for newborn children.”

Little Hats, Big Hearts began in Chicago in 2014, and last year, the American Heart Association expanded the program to Missouri. Summit sponsored last year’s program in Lebanon and this year, they expanded their support to also include CoxHealth in Branson.

Little Hats, Big Hearts honors babies, moms, and heart-healthy lives while raising awareness about congenital heart disease by giving newborn children hand-knitted crochet hats. In addition, parents are given a pamphlet with information about how to keep a healthy heart and what to do if a child suffers from a heart condition. Summit also provided all parents with a congratulatory letter educating them about the Little Hats, Big Hearts program.
